The federal government LOVES spending our money.
Because they don’t know how it’s made. Or how hard they make it to make it.
And/or because they don’t care if they do know.
DC is over a year and $120+ billion into funding one corrupt side of an irrelevant border skirmish in eastern Europe.
And they have yet to engage in ANY oversight thereof.
There’s No Oversight of Billions in Ukraine Aid
And when some DC denizens try to FINALLY start doing so?
House Dems Won’t Allow an Audit of Blank Checks Sent to Ukraine
Senate Democrats Oppose Oversight Office of US Aid for Ukraine
Of course, even the DC denizens trying to do something right – do it wrong.
Is our “temporary” funding of the war – now permanent? Therefore requiring yet another DC bureaucracy be erected to manage it? They think so.
Speaking of permanent DC bureaucracies – dedicated to their spending our money on things we don’t need….
Behold: The decades-old, now-nearly-$9-billion-per-year “connect the unconnected” Universal Service Fund (USF):
“The fund, paid for with a surcharge on phone bills, could be America’s most important tool going forward to fix the so-called Digital Divide, the huge split in opportunity between Americans who have fast internet access and those who don’t.”
Ah, yes: DC’s permanent campaign to “connect the unconnected” – to close “The Digital Divide.”
The USF has taxed-and-spent over $100 billion in its name.
But wait – there’s been more.
DC has handled the Alzheimer’s-addled Joe Biden and his Inc $100+ billion in additional coin to “connect the unconnected”….
November 8, 2021:
Biden’s ‘Historic’ $65 Billion Broadband Plan Approved by Congress:
“President Biden’s $65 billion broadband plan was passed by the House of Representatives on Friday as part of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“While it’s not as big as Biden’s original broadband plan, the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society called it ‘The largest US investment in broadband deployment ever.’”
June 07, 2022:
ALL of these hundreds of billions of dollars to – we’ve been told – “connect the unconnected”:
“President Biden and Vice President Harris are delivering on their historic commitment to connect everyone in America to reliable, affordable high-speed internet by the end of the decade.”
One slight little hiccup:
Every American has been connected to “reliable, affordable high-speed Internet” – since at least the Barack Obama Administration.
Obama Admitted 98% of Americans Were Fast-Internet-Connected – in 2015:
“WAY back in March 2015, President Barack Obama – two whole presidents ago – proudly proclaimed:
“’98% of Americans Have Access to High-Speed Wireless Internet:
“‘At yesterday’s White House Science Fair, President Obama announced that we’ve reached our major broadband connectivity goal – 98 percent of Americans nationwide are now connected to high-speed wireless Internet….”
98% – is a rounding error away from 100%. And speaking of 100%…:
“‘U.S. mobile coverage is ubiquitous. 4G covers almost 100 percent of the population….’
“On the existing Fourth Generation (4G) networks?
“You have been wirelessly, seamlessly live-streaming videos – the far-and-away most data-intensive thing to currently do on the Internet.
“Translation: EVERYONE in the US has access to as much Internet – and speed thereto – as they need. And for most people – MUCH more.”
The US first deployed 4G – in 2012:
“4G reached the United States in 2012, with five companies making the network available. The wireless generation was largely standard for mobile phone and mobile web use by the mid-2010s.”
2015 – is “the mid-2010s.” So Obama sold himself short by 2%.
Why would Obama – with two perpetually broken arms from vigorously patting himself on the back – have sold himself short?
Government ‘Digital Divide’ Lies: They Don’t Even Count Your Smart Phone as an Internet Connection:
“The government-generated data delineating ‘The Digital Divide’ – are chock full of lies. As with Obamacare and oh-so-many other examples – these lies are told to lyingly justify government expansion….
“From the very beginning, they have only counted a hardline, fixed broadband connection as a connection. Which is patently absurd.
“We have spent the last several years seamlessly streaming HD videos on our phones. Which by any rational definition is a high-speed, high-quality connection to the Internet.
“But by government definition – isn’t a connection at all.”
Obama sold himself short on the “Digital Divide” lie – so DC could continue to spend $9 billion per year in the lie’s name.
To “connect the unconnected” – in a nation that was already 100% connected.
And the “Digital Divide” lie – also just cost us $100+ billion more under Biden.
To “connect the unconnected” – in a nation that has already been 100% connected for nearly a decade.
