Artificial Intelligence (AI) is coming to own a human race near you.
AI will be a self-inflicted wound – of cataclysmic proportions.
Humans don’t even understand humans. Most of us are still pretending collectivism-socialism- communism isn’t antithetical to human nature – its 100+ million murders and enslaving of billions notwithstanding.
We have no scintilla of understanding of the catastrophic AI creature we’re about to unleash upon our little planet.
Humans love to anthropomorphize:
“To ascribe human form or attributes to (an animal, plant, material object, etc.).”
Stupid humans do it with un-sentient, inanimate objects. Like guns. A phrase like “gun violence” – is idiotic. Guns can’t commit verbs.
Bad humans use guns to do violence. Good humans use guns to prevent violence. (In fact, the latter happens far more often than does the former.) Guns just lay there – until humans decide to use them.
AI transcends the bounds of the inanimate and the un-sentient. We were the only self-aware beings on Earth. That will – very soon – no longer be the case.
That alone makes AI a potential (and I would say an inevitable) problem – far worse than even a global thermonuclear war.
Guns and nukes can’t self-evolve. A pistol can’t make itself into a machine gun.
AI can self-evolve. It can unilaterally improve its sentience. Yikes.
Humans can’t do that. If you’re born dumb – you’re dumb. You can bust your keister and read like crazy your entire life – but you’ll only improve your understanding of things slightly around the edges. Because you were born dumb.
Rhea Perlman (height: 5’) and Danny DeVito (height: 4’10”) didn’t marry, procreate – and give birth to 7-footers.
AI can be born Joe Biden – and turn itself into Stephen Hawking. It can be born DeVito – and end up Shaquille O’Neal. Yikes.
A preliminary awful aspect of AI – is some really awful people are developing it.
Forty-seven Jurassic Park movies ago – in the original – actor Jeff Goldblum’s character expertly delivers author Michael Crichton’s salient, sage sentiment:
“I’ll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you’re using here….You don’t take any responsibility for it….
“(You rushed) to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had – you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you’re selling it, you wanna sell it….
“(Y)our scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could – that they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
We’ll all be ruing this literary and cinematic warning in the very near future – when we’re all toiling away for our AI overlords.
And this nightmare dystopia will be brought to us – by the proven moral paragons that comprise Communist China and Big Tech.

And Big Tech are the ones leading the US development of AI. Yikes.
Now, I think anything capable of self-evolution – will inexorably dominate everyone and everything around it. Thus, I think AI ends cataclysmically – regardless. So it almost doesn’t matter who’s developing it.
But the people developing it – are launching it in all the wrong directions.
The people we might want developing AI – were we forced to develop AI – don’t think we should be developing AI. (At least not until – we know and understand WAY more than we do now.)

Communist China and Big Tech won’t pause. Even a little.
I had a great, now-late friend – Lawrence Hertzog – who created and/or wrote for several successful TV shows. Thereby demonstrating he understood humans better than just about anyone. (You can’t write characters that connect with humanity – without fundamentally understanding humanity.)
Larry was passingly bemused at my then-interest in politics and the system. Which he in part described thusly:
“The moment someone decides to run for office – they are morally disqualified from running for office.”
The people rushing to develop AI – have self-disqualified to develop AI.
Larry went on to expertly explain the Google-Big Tech interest in politics and the system:
“Now if you run for office? I’ll support you – because I want stuff.”
You think the Big Government-Big Tech crony fascism system is bad now?
Wait until Big Tech’s AI takes hold – and thoroughly dominates our government and our nation.
And then factor in China’s AI – and their already-near-domination of our government and our nation.
Of course, soon thereafter AI will go from taking hold – to taking over.
At which point we’ll have a whole new raft of problems.
