5G – and 10G. Symbiotic Wireless and Wired Internet – And Their Government-Free Miracles

Less Government – More You

Much is being made of the emerging Fifth Generation – 5G – wireless networks.  And with very good reason.

It will be a huge leap forward from 4G.

Wireless speeds will eventually be about 600 times faster.

Stop right there.  We’re already pretty frigging fast.

Nothing consumes more bandwidth than video.  The better the video quality – the bigger the bandwidth load.

Netflix and Youtube Stop HD Streaming in Europe During Pandemic So the Internet Doesn’t Crash

And right now – during the pandemic – you can stream High Definition (HD) videos on your 4G wireless network.  Go ahead – try it on your nearest device….

See?  So we’re already very fast.  And eminently more capable than Europe’s networks of handling it.

Our wireless networks – are faster and stronger than Europe’s wired networks.

5G will be so fast and wide open, inanimate objects will become technologically animate.  Born will be the Internet of Things:

“(A) system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

“A thing in the internet of things can be a person with a heart monitor implant, a farm animal with a biochip transponder, an automobile that has built-in sensors to alert the driver when tire pressure is low or any other natural or man-made object that can be assigned an Internet Protocol (IP) address and is able to transfer data over a network.”

Or as the late Stephen Hawking might have called it – The Internet of Everything.

5G will also pretty much solve the “unserved” connectivity problem.

A few million Americans live in very rural areas of our very large country.

Digging tens or hundreds of miles of trenches and laying cable therein to connect three or four remote homes – makes zero economic sense.  And they are beyond the reach of our giant, expensive 4G wireless antennas.

But 5G antennas – are small.  About the size of a pizza box.  And relatively minuscule in price.  You drop three or four of those around our hypothetical homes – and BOOM…mega-high-speed connectivity for everyone in Remote, USA.

5G is going to be a huge life and economic advancement.

But all that being said – you really can’t do wireless…without wired.  Wireless infrastructure – often requires wired infrastructure.  Behold the backhaul:

“(T)he backhaul portion of the network comprises the intermediate links between the core network, or backbone network, and the small subnetworks at the edge of the network….

“A backhaul may include wired, fiber optic and wireless components.”

ICYDK – fiber optic…is also wired.

Rarely does something “wireless” – take place entirely wirelessly.

Which brings us to wired’s miracle – coming in conjunction with wireless’ miraculous 5G.

Behold 10G:

“With the emergence of more connected devices and immersive content experiences happening alongside an unparalleled boom of video streaming platforms, there’s never been a more critical time to have a powerful and reliable network than can meet the demands of the future. And that next big leap for digital mankind is 10G.

“Not to be confused with the cellular industry’s 5G (meaning fifth generation), the ‘G’ in 10G means gigabits per second, a blazing fast internet speed. 10G is the cable industry’s vision for delivering a remarkable 10 gigabits per second to homes in the U.S. and around the globe.

“Home internet speeds will be 10 times faster than today’s fastest broadband networks, staying ahead of your digital demands, especially as technology becomes even more integral in our day-to-day lives.

“Think about how many connected devices you own at the moment — iPhones, gaming consoles, speakers, voice-activated assistants, smart TVs, among them. Projections show that by 2020 the number of connected devices in the average household will be close to 50.”

This is a large part of the aforementioned Internet of Everything:

“10G is going to play a major role in ensuring that all of these devices work to their full potential….

“But it’s not just about speed that makes the need for 10G so critical; this advancement also promises reduced latency, enhanced reliability, as well as increased security features.

“And 10G isn’t solely focused on recreational usage; the platform aims to transform consumer experiences at pretty much every touchpoint and in a variety of industries, including healthcare, education and agriculture.”

So wired’s 10G is going to be a huge life and economic advancement.  Just like wireless’ 5G.

And the respective miracles will work in tandem with – and enhancement of – each other.

Oh: And we’ve done all of this miraculous amazingness – because we have refused to let stupid government get too much in the way.

PLEASE do not listen to the Left.

Why We Need Net Neutrality

Why We Still Need Net Neutrality

Why We Need Net Neutrality Now

We have accomplished all of these Internet miracles – without stupid government policies like Network Neutrality.

Not despite the fact we don’t have stupid government policies like Net Neutrality.

But precisely because we don’t have stupid government policies like Net Neutrality.

Most of the rest of the world – isn’t so fortunate.  So this happens.

Study: US Will Lead Asia, Europe on 5G

Again: During the shutdowns, our wireless networks – are faster and stronger than Europe’s wired networks.  Because our Internet suffers less government.

So let’s continue to keep stupid government – out of the way.

And continue to allow our private sector Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to lead the planet in Internet innovations, strength, speeds – and coolness.
